مسئولان از بالا رفتن سرعت و جریان کمک رسانی بین المللی در فیلیپین و تلاش امدادگران برای دستیابی به قربانیان توفان در مناطق غیرقابل دسترس، خبر می دهند.

اولین کاروان هوایی امدادی بریتانیا روز شنبه وارد فیلیپین شد. کریستینا جورجیوا، رئیس دفتر جامعه اروپایی کمک های بشردوستانه از جمع آوری بیش از ۲۵ میلیون دلار کمک مالی در اتحادیه اروپا برای ارسال کمک به فیلیپین خبر داد.

روز جمعه، هلیکوپترهایی که با ناو عظیم یو‌اس‌اس جرج واشنگتن آمریکا به منطقه اعزام شدند، شروع به توزیع مواد خوراکی، آب و دارو به روستاهای دورافتاده کردند.

توفان هایان، که بامداد هشتم نوامبر فیلیپین را درنوردید بیش از ۳۶۰۰ کشته برجای گذاشت و حدود نیم میلیون نفر را آواره کرد. مسئولان از احتمال افزایش شمار کشته شدگان خبر می دهند چرا که هنوز بسیاری جزو ناپدیدشدگان هستند.

با آن که عملیات امدادرسانی و توزیع آب و غذا و کمک به توفان زدگان در مرکز فیلیپین در جریان است، صدها هزار و شاید میلیون ها نفر دیگر بی خانمان و بدون آب و غذا و انرژی هستند و هنوز در انتظار امدادرسانان هستند.

جریان و سرعت امدادرسانی بر اثر آسیب دیدگی و انسداد جاده ها و کمبود بنزین به کندی پیش می رود.
