نخست وزیر تایلند مطالبات اپوزیسیون را غیرقانونی خواند و گفت نمی‌تواند آن‌ها را قبول کند.

یینگلاک شیناوات، روز دوشنبه ۱۱ آذر (۲ دسامبر) در یک کنفرانس خبری تایید کرد که شامگاه یکشنبه با سوتپ تائوگسوبان، رهبر تظاهرات ضددولتی ملاقات کرده است. او گفت ملاقات تحت نظارت ارتش برگزار شد.

خانم شیناوات به خبرنگاران گفت آقای تائوگسوبان خواستار استعفای نخست وزیر، انحلال پارلمان و تفویض دولت به یک «شورای مردمی» است. او گفت این مطالبات از نظر قانون امکانپذیر نیست.

نخست وزیر تایلند گفت حاضر است برای رضایت مردم همه کار بکند اما اقداماتش باید قانونی و مطابق قانون اساسی باشد.

خانم شیناوات در حالی این سخنان را ایراد کرد که پلیس تایلند همچنان سرگرم شلیک گاز اشک آور و گلوله های لاستیکی و همچنین گرفتن فشار قوی آب به سوی هزاران تظاهرکننده ای است که تلاش می کنند ساختمان های دولتی در بانکوک را تصرف کنند.

تظاهرکنندگان یکشنبه را «روز پیروزی» برای ساقط کردن نخست وزیر یینگلاک شیناوات نام‌ گذاری کرده بودند اما نتوانستند دفتر نخست وزیر یا دیگر ساختمان های دولتی را تصرف کنند و به هدفشان برسند. تظاهرکنندگان بمب‌های دست ساز و سنگ به سوی پلیس پرتاب می کردند.

ساتپ تائوگسوبان، رهبر تظاهرکنندگان روز یکشنبه گفت با نخست وزیر ملاقات کرده و حاضر نیست از مطالبات جنبش عقب نشینی کند. مخالفان خواستار کناره گیری نخست وزیر به نفع یک شورای منتخب هستند.

آقای تائوگسوبان شامگاه یکشنبه به هوادارانش گفت دیدارش با خانم نخست وزیر زیر نظر ارتش صورت گرفت که می‌گوید در درگیری‌ها موضع خنثی دارد.

تظاهرات در بانکوک عمدتا صلح آمیز بوده اما تنش از شامگاه شنبه و بامداد یکشنبه آغاز شد، هنگامی که گروه های رقیب حامی دولت، به راهپیمایی مخالفان در استادیومی در شمال بانکوک هجوم بردند. در این رویارویی ده ها نفر مجروح شدند و مردان مسلح ناشناس چهار نفر را به ضرب گلوله کشتند.

پس از آن جمعیتی که بالغ بر ۳۰ هزار نفر تخمین زده شد، سعی کرد به ساختمان های شدیدا محافظت شده دولتی وارد شده و کنترل رسانه‌های دولتی را در اختیار بگیرند و همچنین دانشگاه شهر را اشغال کنند.

یینگلاک شیناوات روز یکشنبه به دلایل امنیتی به مکانی نامعلوم منتقل شد و مصاحبه با خبرنگاران را لغو کرد.

چندین مرکز خرید بانکوک در اقدامی محتاطانه درهای خود را بسته نگاه داشته اند.
رهبر تظاهرکنندگان روز دوشنبه کارگران را به اعتصاب فراخواند. اظهارات او تقریبا از تمامی کانال‌های تلویزیونی تایلند، از جمله کانال دولتی به طور زنده پخش می شود.

رهبران اپوزیسیون تایلند خواستار جایگزین شدن شورای مردم متشکل از نمایندگان مشاغل مختلف به جای دولت شده اند و وعده داده اند تا زمانی که نخست وزیر استعفا ندهد تمامی وزارتخانه ها را تصرف خواهند کرد.

خانم یینگلاک شیناوات روز پنجشنبه نتوانست از پارلمان تایلند رای اعتماد بگیرد. او از کناره گیری خودداری کرده و خواستار مذاکره برای وضعیت حاضر شده است.

در درگیری های فعلی تایلند، طبقه متوسط و تحصیل‌کرده سلطنت طلب در مقابل طبقه فقیر و حاشیه نشین حامی خانم شیناوات و برادر بسیار ثروتمند او -تاکسین شیناوات- قرار گرفته اند. تاکسین شیناوات نخست وزیر سابق تایلند است که در سال ۲۰۰۶ با یک کودتای نظامی ساقط شد.

تظاهرات اخیر تایلند چند هفته پیش و به دنبال صدور عفو برای تاکسین شیناوات آغاز شد. با این فرمان عفو حکم حبس دو ساله برای او به اتهام فساد لغو شد. سنای تایلند این حکم را رد کرد اما با این وجود تظاهرات ادامه یافت.

تظاهرات خیابانی حال حاضر در تایلند، بزرگترین اعتراضات خیابانی از سال ۲۰۱۰ تاکنون در این کشور به شمار می رود. در تظاهرات ۲۰۱۰ طی حمله نظامیان به یک تظاهرات اپوزیسیون بیش از ۹۰ نفر کشته شدند.
