We, the undersigned, students and faculty members at the University of Michigan, declare our support for efforts of the Iranian students and academicians.
1- We strongly believe that Iranian people have the right to live in a democracy, without having to choose between independence and freedom.
2- We support the endogenous democratic process in Iran and deplore any imported solution.
3- We demand the immediate release of all Iranian students detained during and after the attacks on students? dormitories in July 1999 and during recent events.
We call upon all Iranian people to strive for a prosperous, free, independent, and democratic Iran and call upon all freedom lovers of the world to support Iranians in their efforts.
