نيوتاون (کانتيکات) شهروندان اين شهر کوچک روز يکشنبه ۲۶ آذرماه مراسم اهدای گل و دعا خوانی برای قربانيان حادثه کشتار در مدرسه برگزار کردند. مقامات پليس از جزئيات بيشتری از حادثه پرده برداشتند. آنها گفتند که آدام لانزا، جوان بيست ساله، ابتدا مادرش نانسی را با شليک چهار گلوله به سر کشت و سپس به مدرسه ابتدايی ساندی هوک رفت و بيست کودک ۶ و ۷ ساله و شش بزرگسال را به قتل رسانيد. مقامات می گويند او در کودکی خود از شاگردان آن مدرسه بود.
