Today’s Woman will discuss a recent report by the United Nations Development Fund for Women. In recognition of the new school year, the following segment will discuss student movement activities from the past year with phoner guest Mahdieh Golru, student activist from inside Iran. The last segment will discuss the health safety of plastic.

News and Views reports on latest reaction to the bombing in Pakistan. The broadcast also covers the Jewish community rallies today in Washington DC and NYC to protest against the visit of Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to the United Nations, and to call for sanctions against Iran's government. This is on the eve of Ahmadinjad’s visit to the UN tomorrow.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency warned Monday that Iran might be hiding secret nuclear activities, comments that appeared to reflect a high level of frustration with stonewalling of hisinvestigators. There are interviews from inside Iran regarding the anniversary of the Iran/Iraq war, as well as the state of Iran’s economy. News and Views also has an interview with Shahriyar Shahida, former World Bank official, to discuss the US and global financial crisis.

Roundtable is joined by Dr. Bahman Diba to react to the 5+1 meeting & UN General Assembly appearance of Ahmadinejad at the UN tomorrow. He’s in the DC studio.


Late Edition updates the situation in Pakistan. There’s also a live medical update, an interview with student activist Kianoosh Sanjari on President Ahmadinejad’s visit to New York tomorrow, and there is a review of last night’s TV Emmy awards in Los Angeles.
