Persian Primetime lineup 9/3

News and Views reports on Iranian President Ahmadinejad claiming Iran now has 3,000 centrifuges that are enriching uranium and that Iran has taken another step in the nuclear progress. This is on the heels of a report last week by the International Atomic Energy Agency, which estimates that Tehran has fewer than 2,000 centrifuges operating, and may have actually slowed its nuclear program. The agency found that Iran was making progress on its cooperation with the West. Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei pledged on Monday that Iran would never yield to Western pressure over its nuclear program. Guest Javan Mardi will talk about Turkey and their push to attack PKK rebels inside Iraq, and Turkey’s praise of Iran for attacking the PKK.

Roundtable hosts Arash Sobhani, founder of the Tehran based band Kiosk. The program will focus on underground music in Iran, and will offer samples of various Persian rock and rap music.

Late Edition will feature singer and songwriter Ali Eskandarian. He’s currently on a tour of the US and will perform samples of song from a new album on Wildflower records.

NewsTalk will feature a discussion of human rights violations in Iran and will highlight a recent human rights conference in Tehran, as well as the release of Haleh Esfandiari. Guests include Dr. Hamid Arabzadeh from Los Angeles, Parvez Dastmalchi in studio, and Elahea Hicks from NYC.
